Quick-E-Quant Ltd provides a QS service to sub-contractors covering trades including carpentry, brickwork, groundwork, decoration, suspended ceilings, plumbing and formwork. Cost Plans were provided for architects and developers up to ending the full service in 2007 as one customer requested a transfer to a full time position. This service is now available once again.

Senior Quantity Surveyor / J&P Carpentry and Joinery Ltd. 2004 – 2020

The core disciplines of estimating and winning sub-contract packages, producing interim valuations and preparing variation costs were enhanced with managing the procurement of materials, providing technical back up to the production staff and also evaluating site work timelines.

Quantity Surveyor / Coltham Construction Ltd 1998 – 2003

After joining the company straight from University the responsibilities quickly developed through role promotions from an assisting QS position to managing the commercial disciplines of the company.  Estimating, contract administration, cash flow, purchasing, compliance and promoting the understanding of the commercial responsibilities were all part of the daily tasks. 

Student QS / Wilson Construction Ltd amongst studies – 1992 – 1997

The good old days before emails and mobile phones!  Between college and university terms it was a pleasure to learn and carry out the core disciplines of quantity surveying; visiting sites carrying a tape measure, measuring wheel and a dim book provided an excellent way to learn what it took to carry out building works.  Communicating in person, by telephone and by letter certainly helped in developing an understanding how to administer contracts.

Over Whitacre Parish Councillor 2009 – present www.owpcnorthwarks.co.uk
Serving as a parish Councillor in the village has provided excellent experience of dealing with people.  After moving to the nearby town in 2018 the council were happy to continue the position and the links with the village will be ongoing.  

Atherstone Town Councillor 2022 - present www.atherstone-tc.gov.uk   Serving as a town Councillor provides excellent experience dealing with people; the public, businesses, local authorities and volunteer groups.  My voluntary roles include working on the administration of the cemetery, allotments, CCTV system, play areas and coordinating the Remembrance Sunday event.

Commonwealth Games Volunteer Birmingham 2020   I was privileged to be chosen as a member of the "Games Family Protocol Green Field Team" for this international event.  In other words I was looking after the needs of VIPs and international invited guests at three external events; Triathlon in Sutton park, Mountain Biking in Cannock Chase and Time Trials in Wolverhampton West Park.  I was also at the Closing Ceremony in the Alexander Stadium.

Volunteer Atherstone Motor Show, annual event 2020 - present  atherstonemotorshow.co.uk  Starting as a volunteer on a road closure in 2020 I developed into welcoming attendees and creating a new arrangement to display cars herringbone style along the roads of the town.  I was elected as the Secretary in 2023 and have been taking minutes ever since!    

 

Personal Interests
200+Parkruns, singing in a contemporary choir, recreational cycling, gym classes, occasional kitesurfing, a bit of guitar and enjoying married life.
